Operations is the only major business function without a standards body. Accounting has the CPA. Project management has the PMP. Operations, the function that determines whether any of the others actually execute, has nothing comparable.
The National Board of Operations was formed to close that gap. It issues the NBOP-CP credential, which certifies experienced practitioners against a published, openly drafted standard. Two principles govern its design: the standard is public and revised on a published schedule, and assessment is separated from instruction, so candidates are never required to buy preparation materials from an affiliated provider.
NBOP is in formation. The standard is being drafted in the open, the standards committee is being assembled, and candidacy has not yet opened.
