Operations is the only major business function without a standards body. Accounting has the CPA. Project management has the PMP. Operations, the function that determines whether any of the others actually execute, has nothing comparable.
The National Board of Operations Professionals was formed to close that gap. It issues the NBOP-CP credential, which certifies experienced practitioners against a published, openly drafted standard.
Two principles govern its design: the standard is public and revised on a published schedule, and assessment is separated from instruction, so candidates are never required to buy preparation materials from an affiliated provider.
